Contract

Once the final, detailed plans are complete, a contract with a builder/yard is drawn up. The contract includes, by reference to the detailed plans, the bill of materials, detailed specifications for each system and component. It also includes the completion schedule with interim milestones, provisions for insurance of the build at each milestone, and a schedule of payments. The designer may also be contracted to serve as proxy project manager or to identify a suitable full-time project manager.
