Championship Events

Corsair Nationals, Ft. Walton Beach, FL

A championship event not to be missed! Held annually in late April since 1995 it is the premier trailerable trimaran event in the country. Sailors from England and France have joined the ranks of fun and sun seeking racers and cruisers. Boats come from as far as the Northwest and the Northeast to compete against the best or just cruise around the emerald waters of the Florida panhandle. Each year, The Multihull Source crew hitches up Bob’s and Bert’s boats and heads to Ft. Walton Beach, often in a caravan with other Northeast sailors escaping the long New England winter. This is the best possible way to see dozens of Corsair boats all heated up in competition, join the camaraderie, throw back a few of your favorite beverages and talk fast, level sailing. You might even be invited to crew on one if you can take the speed! See the Calendar fordates. Reports from previous races can be found on our Racing page. For up-to-date information on the Corsair Nationals event, go to http://www.smythteam.com.

WindRider/Rave Nationals, Ft. Walton Beach, FL

The WindRider 16' and 17’ Trimaran and RAVE National Championships are held annually in October. The racing is intense, the competition close and quite different from racing displacement hulls. The trick to racing hydrofoils is to stay on the foils for the longest time possible. The foil borne speeds are so much faster than displacement speeds that huge deficits can be made up while up on foils. The lead changes often as the skippers lift off, or crash and burn. We know it's a long way to go for just a weekend of sailing, but the excitement of fleet racing the RAVE is not to be missed! Ira Heller travels down to represent The Multihull Source. Join us!

Sail Extravaganza

Sail Extravaganza is held 2 days every year on Fathers’ Day weekend in Wareham, Massachusetts. It's a weekend of sailing, food and socializing. The focus is on the fun of sailing—and particularly fun with these multihulls. Potential multihull sailors and current owners looking for larger boats can come and enjoy a day on the water with boat owners rather than salespeople. Please plan to join us next year; we always have fun!

Go Fast Seminar

Many new mulithull owners from monohull backgrounds often ask us if multihull sailing techniques are very different from what they’re used to. Other owners simply want to learn how to get the most performance out of their boats. The answers can be had at our Go Fast Performance Seminar in early June. This event - taught by The Multihull Source team and other champion multihull sailors - is just the place to find the answers to your performance questions. The seminar isn’t a typical racing clinic; it focuses on multihull sailing techniques with an emphasis on making owners more familiar with the capabilities of their boats as well as tips on best tacking and jibing angles, sail handling and trim, and safety. Please call us for details and consider bringing your own boat.
